Святые праотцы Иоаким и Анна	Ioakeim and Anna, the saint forefathers,
Век прожили. Жизнь была без греха.	Lived to a great age. The life was sinless.
Бездетность их была им странна,	Their childlessness was for them singular
А для соседей и смешна.	And for neihbours even comical.
Не в силах насмешки от люда сносить	Unable to tolerate the banters
Ушёл Иоаким к пастухам,	Ioakeim went out to the shepherds,
Но Бога продолжил молить,	But went on to pray the firmament,
Не теряя надежды и там.	No giving up the hope and there.
Анна, дома оставаясь,	Anna remaining at the house
Тоже веру не теряла,	Also didnot give up the faith.
Лишь на Бога полагаясь,	Relying on the God only,
Всё молитву повторяла.	She repeated the prayer daily.
Ими Богу дан обет:	They gave God the vow:
"Несмотря на многость лет,	"In spite of multitude of years
Богу чадо посвятим,	We will dedicate the child to God,
Для себя не сохраним".	Will not keep him for ourselves.
Не осталась без ответа их мольба,	Their prayer did not remain without answer.
Услышана Богом их просьба.	Their request was heard by God.
О том благую весть	It was entrusted to angels
Ангелам поручено донесть.	To transmite the glad news about it.
Анна в ту ночь молилась.	At that night Anna prayed.
К небу главу подняла,	Towards the sky she raised the heard.
Вдруг темнота расступилась.	Suddenly the darkness gave way.
Ангельских два крыла	Two angelic wings
Плавно пред ней опустили	Let down smoothly before she
Вестника от творца.	The herald from the Creator.
О чём они говорили	About what they spoke together
Не ясно пока до конца.	It is not clear still to the end.
Есть однако факты бесспорные:	However there are the indisputable facts:
Роды чада предстоят ей скорые,	She is going to have soon the Child-birth,
Так что время нечего терять,	Thus don't cut to weist,
Супруга надо идти встречать.	She must come to meet the husband.
Тогда же ангел повидал Иоакима.	At that time the angel met Ioakeim,
Сказал, что ждёт его уж Анна терпелива.	Said that patient Anna waits until he comes,
Обрадовал, что скоро наконец	Rejoiced that soon at last
Он тоже будет "молодой" отец.	He will be the "young" father too.
Той ночью встретились супруги.	At that night the spouses came across.
О своих виденьях рассказали друг другу.	They told each other about their visions,
Домой, обнявшись, поспешили,	Hastened to home embracing each other tenderly,
Бога искренне возблагодарили.	And thanked the God sincerely.
Отходила Анна положенный срок.	The item of Anna expired at the end.
Иоаким пригласил бабку-повитуху,	Ioakeim invited the midwife.
Знающую в этом деле толк	She was the mischievous beldam
Бедовую старуху.	Knowing sense in this matter.
Бабка засучила рукава,	The midwife rolled up one's sleeves,
Теперь лишь Бог ей глава.	Now only the God is her head.
Организовала воды кипяченье,	She organized a boiling of a water
Иоакима из покоев удаленье.	And the removal of Ioakeim from the rooms.
Из старинных сундуков	From ancient chests
Наших славных стариков	Of our glorious fathers
Мягкого взяла полотна,	She took a soft linen,
Для Младенца будет пелена.	It will be the swadding clothes for the Child.
Анне помогала, как умела.	She helped Anna as could.
Та родила как молодая.	Anna has borne as young woman.
Бабка и ойкнуть не успела,	The midwife was not able to say: "Oh!"

Анне прошептала: "Что хотела!"	She murmured to Anna: "That you wanted!"
И на лавку к купели подсела.	And took a seat on the bench near the font.
Анна, чуть придя в себя	No sooner had Anna came back
И в порядок себя приведя,	And put herself in order,
Попросила не без волненья:	Than she asked in emotion:
"Покажите мне моё творенье".	"Show me my creature".
Ей, конечно, бабка показала,	The midwife showed to her certaily
А потом и в руки дала,	And then gave on the hands,
Но сначала завершила купанье	But finished the bathing firstly
И заботливое пеленанье.	And used carefully the swaddling-bands.
Иоаким вначале было сник.	Ioakeim at first had the broke spirit,
Но, услышав Дитяти крик,	But when he heard the Child's cry,
Все тревоги оставил вмиг.	He left all trepidations at once.
Девичий звонкий был этот клик.	These cries were the girlish cheery ones.
Допущенный снова в покои	Admitted again in the rooms
Он не оставил Анну в покое.	He did not leave the Anna alone only.
Поздравлял, хвалил, благодарил.	He was complimenting, praising, thanking.
Повитуху щедро одарил.	He gave the midwife a gifts generously.
Весть, что Анна родила,	News that Anna has given birth
Словно галка разнесла.	Were delivered as by jackdaw.
Многим дивным было то.	It was miraculous for many:
"Ведь старуха Анна-то..."	"Well, but Anna is old woman..."
Нетерпимости устыдясь былой,	Shamefacedly for last intolerance,
Повалили гости чередой.	The visitors came one by one as billow.

Пророк ветхозаветный,	Foretold the arrival of Messiah
О Матери же Спаса, конечно, он не знал.	He did not know about the Mother of the Saviour, of course.
Марии это тоже было неизвестным.	It was unknown for Maria also.
Мария, Пречистая Дева,	Maria, the Immaculate Virgin,
Никогда не сидела без дела.	Never sat without work.
Пряжу для храмовой завеси пряла,	She spun a spinning for church curtain,
Воду студёную из колодца глубокого черпбла.	Bucketed a cold water from a deep draw-well,
По шёлку, атласу шивала,	Embroidered on silk and satin,
Нитку клала серебряную да златную,	Laid the silver and gold thread,
Жемчугом да каменьями украшала,	Decorated with pearl and stones,
В златошвейку превратилась знатную.	Became the famous seamstress.
Лучше всех с малых лет	Since young age
Знала Ветхий Завет.	She became the best scripturist.
Читала жития пророков,	She read The Lives of the prophets,
Много получила хороших уроков.	Obtained many good lessons.
За одним из этих дел	During one of this works
К Ней архангел прилетел.	The archangel flow to Her.
Бог его Гавриилом назвал,	The God named him Gabriel.
Сам же Он его и послал.	And He Himself sent him.
Имя "Гавриил" значит крепость,	Name 'Gabriel' means a strength
Или муж Божий, мужчина то есть.	Or God's man.
Известен образ его дивной красы,	It's known his image of wonderful beauty.
Зовётся он "Гавриил Златы Власы"	It is called 'Gabriel the Gold Hair'.
Тихий шелест крыл раздался,	The soft sough of wings resounded
И в сияньи неземном	And in unearthly aureole
Ей архангел показался	The archangel appeared Her
С дивным лилии цветком.	With wonderful flower of lily.
Мария, конечно, весьма изумилась,	Maria, of course, was surprised extremely.
Такое ведь с Нею впервые случилось.	Such happened with Her for the first time only.
Склонила голову в приветствии Она,	All full of heart emotion
Вся волнения полна.	She stooped the head in the greeting.
Тут Марии Гавриил	Then Gabriel presented Mary
Цветок лилии вручил.	The flower of white lily.
"Радуйся, Дева Пречистая!	'Rejoice, the Immaculate Virgin!
Ждёт Тебя слава лучистая.	The radiant glory waits You.
Воспоёт Тебя каждая лира.	Every lyre will sing about You.
Ты родишь Спасителя мира."	You will bear the Saver of the world.'
Сначала Мария смутилась,	Firstly Maria was embarrased
Но на веру принять то решилась.	But decided to take it on trust.
Было это в Назарете	It was in the Nazaret
И. конечно, на рассвете.	And, of course, on the sun-up.
Все хорошие дела	All good matters
Совершаются с утра.	Are making on the morning.
И отметим наконец,	And notice at last
Был ведь там и Бог Отец.	There was and God the Father.
В небесах Он восседал	In the heaven He sat
И всё это наблюдал.	But looked after all that.
Богом выбрану Девицу	The Virgin selected by the God
Сам же и благословил десницей.	Was blessed by the right hand of Him Himself.
Дух Святой на Неё низошёл от Него.	The Holy Ghost descended from Him on Her.

Р О Ж Д Е С Т В О	THE NATIVITY
По бедности родителей Христа	On poverty of the Christ's parents
Не нашлось в Вифлееме угла	The corner was not found in Bethlehem.
Для Святого Семейства тогда.	Then only sheepfold
Лишь сарайка сыскалась одна.	For Sacred Family was found.
Служанка воду вскипятила,	The girl brought a water to the boil,
Ребёнка надо искупать,	The Child needs in the bathing.
Кувшин взяла, в купель налила	She took a pitcher, poured water into a font
И тихо села бабку ждать.	And sat down noiselessly to wait the midwife.
А повитуха, наша баба,	And midwife, the our peasant woman,
Хотя здоровьем уже слаба,	Though she is feeble one already,
Отлично знает как принять.	Knows perfectly how to receive,
Ей опыта не занимать.	She does not need to borrow the experience.
Приободрила, помолилась,	She encouraged, prayed,
Дала вздохнуть бедняжке Ей.	Gave Her, the poor soul, to take breath.
И очень быстро всё свершилось:	And very swiftly all occured:
Спаситель мира уж пред ней.	There is the Saviour of the world already before her.
"Кричишь? Такое дело ведь Твоё".	'Do You cry? Such is Your work.'
И, искупав, запеленала,	And after bathing she swaddled,
Нашлось какое-то тряпьё,	Some rags was found,
И ушептала, укачала.	And whispered and rocked to sleep.
Смахнула радости слезу.	She whisked off a tear-drop of rejoicing,
Иосифу Мальца лишь показала,	Then showed the Boy to Joseph,
Согрев того на злом ветру,	Which was warmed on the wicked wind,
И молча Матери отдала.	And silently gave
На руки Первенца приняв,	With the First-Born on the hands
Мария нежности полна:	Maria full of tenderness.
"Любимое моё Дитя!	'My Darling Child!
Однако ж... деть Тебя куда?"	However... where will we put You?'
Известно, голь не пропадёт.	It is known the poor people will not be lost.
Подумав, в ясли для вола	Upon thoughts into the manger for a bullock
На сенце мягкое кладёт	On soft hay She lays

Заботу новую не сбросив	The new cares can't be throwed down
Так, будто шапку при жаре.	As a cap under a hot weather.
Пастух, мудрейший из пришедших,	The shepherd, wisest of all arrived ones
а что старейший, сразу то видать,	And oldest that is seen at ones,
Кивнув на ангелов приведших,	Pointed to the angels who leaded them
Давай Иосифа пытать	And started to pump Joseph
О смысле жития	About sense of the life
И о тревогах мира,	And about perturbations of the world,
О том, что смертен ты и я,	About that I and You are mortal
А Рождество достойно пира.	And the Nativity deserves a feast.
На те вопросы пастуха	On those shepherd's questions
Иосиф мудро отвечает,	Joseph wisely answers
Что слишком юн он мол пока	He says, he is too much young still
И многого ещё не знает.	And does not know many things just yet.
Но приложился к бурдюку,	But he tasted from the wine skin,
Пастушью щедрость оценив,	Valued the shepherd's bounty,
И выпил чарку не одну,	And drank no one goblet
Что заменило им весь пир.	That replaced them all feast.
Поглядели Малыша.	They looked on the Child.
Так растрогалась душа.	The heart was affected so greatly.
Пастухи словно прозрели,	The shepherds as if began seeing clearly,
В Нём коллегу усмотрели.	They discerned the colleague in Him.
Пастырь - то же, что пастух.	The pastor is same as the shepherd.
Не ягнят пасёт, а люд.	He herds the people, no a lambs.
Напрягайте теперь слух,	Strain one's ears,
Будет вечный вам приют.	The eternal shelter will be for you.
Правда, Он и Агнец тоже,	In truth, He is a Lamb too
Что положен уж на ложе,	That was put down already on the couch
Жертву чтобы принести,	To make sacrifice
Человечество спасти.	To save the humanity.
Для Младенца пастухи,	For Child the shepherds
Взяв пастушечьи рожки,	Took the shepherd's horns,
Заиграли свои песни.	Played their songs.
Все плясали с ними вместе.	All danced with them together.
Для Марии же они,	For Maria they
Развязав свои мешки,	Unbound their sacks,
Крынку молока достали,	Took out the pot of milk,
Сыра круг Ей передали.	Handed Her the cheese.
Ей Младенца ведь кормить,	She must to feed the Child,
Надо силы сохранить.	It is necessary to maintain the forces.
Для усталого осла	For tired ass
Наскребли чуть-чуть овса.	They scraped up a little oats.
Волхвы о Рождестве тотчас узнали,	About the Nativity the magi found out instantly.
Хоть в дальних странах проживали.	On that the light of flashed star pointed them
На то им указал свет вспыхнувшей звезды.	Though they lived in far countries.
О том же, кто они, волхвы,	About who are they, the magi,
Затевать не стоит спор:	It is not worth to undertake the dispute:
Самый старший Мельхиор,	The oldest is Melchior,
В средних летах Балтазар	The middle is Baltazar,
И красавец мавр Каспар.	And fine Moor is Caspar.
Жеребцов своих оседлали,	Their horses they saddled,
Тороками к сёдлам дары приторочили,	Attached the gifts to the saddles,
И через горы, пустыни они поскакали	And through the mounts, the deserts they galloped
Поклониться Тому, Кого напророчили.	To adorate the One, Who was propheted by them.
В конце долгого пути	At the end of long way
К Вифлеему подошли.	They approached to Bethlehem.
Здесь пещеру отыскали	Here they found the cave
И дары свои достали.	And took out their gifts.
Средь даров, во-первых, злато.	There is the gold in the first place among the gifts.
Тут ведь выбор небогатый,	Here the choice is no great
Если хочешь ты поднесть,	If you wants to present
Что Царю составит честь.	That will make a honour for the king.
Древние ливан курили.	The ancient people smoked the liban.
Душистая так называлась смола.	The fragrant rosin was named so.
Её тоже Ему подарили.	It was presented Him too.
Для Учителя она очень хороша.	For Teacher it is very good.
И ещё одну смолу	And else one rosin
Подарили ведь Ему.	Was presented Him.
Та смола зовётся смирна,	That rosin is named the smirna.
Благовонная она.	It is a odoriferoys one.
Даром сим они мечтали	By means of this gift they dreamed
Скрасить жизни Его век,	To make age of His life more pleasant
Потому как понимали,	Because they understood
Что Он просто Человек.	He is a Man simply.

Р А С П Я Т И Е	CRUCIFIXION
Средь горестей, постигших Бога Мать,	Among sorrows overtook the Virgin
Распятие особо надо указать.	It needs to poin out the Crucifixion specially.
Сердце рвало Ей оно,	It was tearing the Her heart
Настолько было тяжело.	Thus much it was heavily.
Прибежала с самого утра	Mary, Clopas' wife,
Мария, Клеопова жена.	Camt running right in the morning.
Остатки надежды разрушил вмиг	The remains of hope were destroyed in a jiffy
Тётки Христа отчаянный крик:	The desperate cry of Christ's aunt:
"Сейчас поведут, мужайся мать!	'Now He will be convoyed. Take heart, Mother!
Слёзы утрём, не время рыдать!	We will wipe a tears, time forbids to sob!
Жаждет крови Понтий, толпа ль!	The Pontius or a crowd thirsts after blood!
Пробиться сумеем едва ль."	We will can force one's way hardly.'
Собралась враз, лишь плат взяла,	She prepared Herself at once, only took the kerchief
Смахнуть горючую слезу	To whisk a scalding tears off
Да знак в толпе подать Ему,	And togive Him a sign in the crowd.
И вот на месте уж Она.	In consequence She is already in the place.
Прапорщик движенье возглавлял.	The moving was headed by the ensign.
Заместо воинских знамен	Instead of military ensigns
И стягов рыцарских взамен,	And instead of knightly banners
Он титло нёс, чем "Бога прославлял".	He carried the title by which he "glorified" the God.
Затем следовал сотник Лонгин,	The centurion Longinus followed then
И был он, конечно, отнюдь не один:	And of course he was by no means alone:
На поднятой с дороги туче пыли	On cloud of dust raised from the road
Римских воинов три сотни плыли.	Three hundreds of Roman soldiers swam.
Весёлою толпою ремесленный шёл люд.	The handicraft people went by gay crowd.
Всё "Ха-ха!" да "Ха-ха-ха! Где тут зрелищ выдают?"	Only 'Haw, haw!' and 'Haw, haw, haw! Where are pagents given here?'
Иудейские первосвященники и учителя	The Judaic high-priests and teachers
Важно пронесли сами себя.	Carried themselves pompously.
Двух разбойников стражи гнали.	The guards drove two thiefs,
Виновниками торжества они себя считали.	Which considered themselves a begetters of celebration.
За ними шествовал богатый спекулятор -	They were followed by rich speculator -
Бизнеса законного успешный регулятор.	The successful controller of legal business.
Гордое молчание его сменил сорочий стрёкот.	His haughty silence was replaced by magpie jabber.
То жёны шли, неся и плач, и говор, хохот.	The women walked carring a crying, a talking and a roar.
На прелести их Понтий наш Пилат	At their charms Pontius our Pilate
С высот своих коней по-старчески взират.	From highs of his horses look like an old man.
Умыл он в этом деле руки,	He had washed the hand in this matter
Христа не взявши на поруки.	When he had not offered bail the Christ.
За римским прокуратором сим Иудеи	This Roman procurator of Judea
Шагали молча кустодеи.	Steped silently the custodians.
Числом их было сотен шесть,	They were about six hundreds in number,
Точнее, право, и не счесть.	They cannot be accounted more exactly, it is true.
Много меньше шло стрельцов -	The fusiliers went much less in number -
Девяносто молодцов.	Only ninety lads.
Небольшой, но государь,	No great, but sovereign
Проехал Галилеи царь,	The Galilea's tsar has ridden,
Богатой и языческой страны,	It is the rich and heathen country,
Иисуса малой родины.	The Jesus's small native country.
Завершался парад храбрецов.	The parade of valiants was compliting.
Сдерживая поступь своих жеребцов,	Holding back the step of their horses
Но отнюдь не себя, гогочущих пьяно,	But by no means themselves, cackling drunkly,
Процокали всадники Каиафа, Ианна.	The horsemen of Kaiaf, Iann have stamped by hoods.
Дождалась, Сын показался,	At last the Son appeared.
Нёс Он Свой крест, упирался.	He carried His cross, He persisted.
В глазах потемнело от материнской жалости,	Her eyes are darkened from mother's pity,
Ноги на миг подогнулись от сердца слабости.	The legs failed Her for instant from heart's debility.
Но растолкала толпу, пробилась,	But She has elbowed and forced one's way trough a crowd.
На колени пред Ним свалилась.	Upon one's knees She has fallen before Him.
Бросилась помогать, отогнали.	She has dashed to help and was driven away.
Копьём и ветвью Христа подгоняли.	By spear and branch Christ was hurried.
Крест должен был нести Сам Он,	He must have carried the cross Himself
Но не по силам Христа сделал крест Васамон.	But Vasamon had made the cross beyond Christ's strength.
До градских врат его Господь лишь довлачил,	The Lord has draged on it up to town's gate only,
А на Голгофу Симон Киринейский уж втащил.	And on the Calvary already Simon of Kirinea has pull.
В те времена распятие считалося позором,	In that times the crucifix was considered as a shame.
Великие злодеи осуждались на него.	The great villains were consured to that.
Толпа Христа приговорила хором,	The crowd had condemned Christ in chorus,
Тем самым признавая величие Его.	So His grandeur was acknowledged.
Из сотен воинов верных своих	From hundreds of his true warriors
Лонгин выделил лишь четверых	Longin has separated only four ones
Для приведения приговора в исполненье	To carry the sentence into execution
И строгого ритуала соблюденья.	And to observe the ritual strictly.
Одежда Христа - трофей палача.	The Christ's dress is the trophy of hangman.
На четыре части она разделена.	On four parts it was divided.
А затем уж жребий разрешил,	Then already a lot resolved
Что же каждый получил.	What was obtained by everybody.
Распяли лицом на Восток Иисуса Христа,	Jesus Christ was crucifixed faced to East
Меж разбойников, звали которых Дижман и Еста.	Between brigands, which were naming Digman and Esta.
Благоразумным из них первый был,	The fist of them was a reasonable one,
Но и второго мир ведь тоже не забыл.	But and the second was not forgotten by the world also.
Вино со смирной как наркоз	The wine with the smirna as narcosis
Отверг наш мученик Христос.	Was rejected by our martyr Christ.
Страсти все претерпеть до конца	The Carrier of thorny crown has wished
Возжелал Носитель тернового венца.	To endure all passions to the end.
Узрев в толпе ученика Своего любимейшего,	When He has seen most darling His pupil
Мать Его поддерживающего,	Which supported His Mother
Обратился со словами к ним -	He has spoken the words to them -
Последним желанием Своим:	The last His wish:
"Жена, се сын твой.	'The wife, it is her son.
Живи с ним, как со мной.	Live with him as with me.
Иоанн, се маты твоя.	John, it is your mother.
Такова последняя воля моя."	Last my will is such.'
Кроме боли нестерпимой, от гвоздевых ран	Except unendurable pain from the nail wounds
У Христа начался жар.	The temperature has started at Christ's.

К концу подходил земной Её путь.	Her earth path was approaching to the end.
Архангел Гавриил опять себя явил.	Gabriel archangel appeared himself again.
Небесных дел не раскрывая суть,	No opening the sense of heavenly matters
Успения Её он дату объявил.	He announced the date of Her Dormition.
Утешил, Сын, мол, Её ждёт,	He comforted the Son, he said, waits Her,
К Успению же Сам придёт.	By the Dormition He will come Himself.
В ответ Она сказала о желаньи	In answer She said about the wish

Превратилася в дитя.	Became the Child.
Иисус прижал у сердца	Jesus pressed near the heart

Нужно напомнить, конечно, о том,	Of course, it needs to remind of that
Что плиту ту сдвигали гуртом.	The plate was moved away by drove.
Спорили: "Кто, куда да как?", всё судили,	They debated and guessed: 'Who, where and how is it?',
Окончательно же уяснили,	Finally understood
Тело взято в Небеса	The body was taken on the heaven
По велению Христа.	By decree of Christ.
И стал понятен замысел Его -	And His design became clear -
Пусть чрез Фому узнает человек,	Let a man will recognize by Thomas

Два греческих вельможи,	Designed to visit holy places
Решили, мол, дары возложим.	By journey on the known traces.
К местам святым оправились они.	Without modern exact maps
Манили их лампад огни,	They were driven by the fire of the icon lamps
Что в храмах славных Палестины	Which in glorious Palestinian churchs
Сияют светом вечной истины.	Are radiant by the light of the eternal truths.
По пути их в Назарет -	On the path to Nazareth -
Место Благовещенья,	Place of the Annunciation,
Был оказан им привет	They became the guests
Девицей Израиля.	Of one of Israelite girls.
В доме странноприимной той девицы	There was no any chaos
Блестели натёрты половицы,	In this girl's house.
Ладана клубился дымок,	Here a tapes and frankincense
Был слышен свечей шепоток.	agreebly incensed.
В ковчеге особом хранилась вещь одна,	One thing was contained in special icon box.
По наследству почти пять веков передавалась она.	It inherited for almost five centuries.
То Богоматери риза честная была,	That was the honour vestment
Подаренная Ею в те ещё времена.	Presented by Virgin Herself.
В народе ходила молва,	The people believed the legend
Что чудотворна риза та.	This dress was miraculous.
Многие по вере получили исцеленье,	Many people were cured
От мук и страданий избавленье.	And saved from torments and passions.
Хворых богомольцев немало	Many invalid piligrims
У дверей дома лежало,	Laid near house door very grim,
Молитвам внимало,	Listened the prayers attentively,
Чудо исцеленья ждало.	Waited for the miracle of recovery.
Вещь, хранимая века,	The thing kept for many centuries
Безусловно святыней была.	Was the holy one certainly.
Восхитила братьев риза,	The brothers were delighted by this dress,
Не ждали в глуши такого сюрприза.	In remote place they didn't wait the such surprise.
История ризы вызвала изумленье.	The history of the vestment excited an amazement.
"Как быть?" - возникло сомненье.	A doubt "How is it to be?" arised,
Оно мгновенно перешло в убежденье:	Which instantly converted in sureness:
Это их долг - совершить похищенье.	It's their duty to perpetrate the sacrilege.
Ночь в молитве проведена.	The next night was whiled away in the prayer.
Просьба к Богу лишь одна:	They asked the God about only one:
"Не сочти это дело за грех,	"No count their affair for trespass,
Ведь стараемся для всех".	Because we are trying for all".
Копию ковчега у мастера заказали.	A master copied the icon box for their.
Получилось похоже, сами не ожидали.	It ensured similar. They themselves did not expect such result.
Братья взяли святыню незаметно,	The brothers took the reliquiae unnoticeably
Оставив ковчег-новодел заместо.	Replaced it by new-made one accurately.
Затем риза в Царьград доставлена,	Then this dress was drived to Tsargrad
Во Влахернском храме Богоматери поставлена.	And placed in the Virgin church at Vlahern.
Христиане, почитающие Бога Мать,	The Christians venerating the Mother of the God
Ризположение стали отмечать.	Became to celebrate the Placing of the dress.
Чтоб больше людей поклониться могли,	The particles were detached from the dress
Частицы от ризы отделены.	To increase the its accessibility for the worshippers.
В разных храмах хранятся они.	They are keeping in a few churches.
Может, пред ними склонялись и Вы.	Perhaps you also inclined your head before them.
Есть такая святыня в Московском Кремле,	There is such relic in the Moscow Kremlin.

Над Византией горечко взошло.	The grief had rise over the Byzantia.
То сарацинов орды хлынули туда.	To wit the hordes of Saracens rushed there.
Нам с саранчою спутать их легко.	For us it is easy to confuse them with locusts.
Спасенье - миф: им несть числа.	The rescue is a myth: they are out of number.
В ту пору правил Лев VI,	At that time Leo the Sixth governed.
Философа имел он титул непростой,	He had no simple title of the Philisopher.
А имя это, как тут ни крути,	This name however
Даётся не за ратные труды.	Is not given for military toils.
Осталась на Бога надежда одна.	The only hope remained on the God.
К Заступнице Небесной мольба обращена.	The entreaty is asked to the Heaven Interceder.
Молитва древних греков услышана была.	The praying of ancient Greeks was heard.
Это подтверждает история сия.	This story confirms that.
Службы правились в Царьграде,	A services were guided in Tsargrad,
Византии стольном граде.	The metropolitan town of Byzantia.
В храмах тесно, яблоку негде упасть.	It was crowded in a churchs, an apple had not a place to fall.
Вспоминаем иногда мы небесную власть.	We remembed the heaven power sometimes.
Речь пойдёт о храме том,	The talk will go about that church
Где в киоте дорогом,	Where in a reach box
Богоматери риза хранилась.	The Virgin's dress was kept.
Там Она Сама явилась.	She Herself appeared there.
В окружении ангелов, пророков и святых	In surroundings of angels, prophets and saints
Молила Сына Богоматерь о делах земных.	The Virgin was praying the Son about earthly matters.
Во время всенощного бдения воскресного	During watching up the Sunday night
Лишь двое сподобились видения чудесного.	Only two was thought worthy of miraculous vision.
Святой Андрей, Юродивым который наречён,	St Andrew, which was named the Beggarly and Weak-Minded Devotee,
Созерцанием чуда дивного поглощён.	Is wrapped up in the contemplation of wonderful miracle.
Окликнул ученика он своего	He called his pupil
Святого Епифания праведного:	St Epiphany the blessed.
"Видишь ли ты, брате,	'Do you see, the brother,
Как Богоматерь о всём мире молитву кладе?"	As the Mother of God is laying the prayer for all world?'
"Вижу, святый отче, и ужасаюся,	'I see, the saint father, and I am terrified,
Свитой славной Её восторгаюся."	Delighted with Her glorious suite.'
Узнав о чуде в храме Цареграда,	Found out about the miracle in the church of Tsargrad
Страна была, конечно, очень рада.	The country was of course very glad.

Праздника установления честь	The Honor of institution of feast
Церкви России принадлежит.	Belongs to Russian Church.
Нам тем гордиться надлежит.	We must be proud of that.
Покров, праздник православного человека,	The Intercession, the feast of Orthodox man,
Установлен в средине двенадцатого века.	Instituted at middle of twelve century.
С тех пор все мы братья и сестры по крову.	We are the brothers and sisters in accordance of shelter.
В Церкви есть акафист Покрову.	There is the pious chanson honoring the Intercession in the Church.
В акафисте том вопием мы хором:	In that chant we sing in chorus:
"Покрый нас, Богородице, честным Твоим покровом,	'Cover us, the Virgin, by holy Your cover,
Избави нас от всякого зла,	Save us from any evil
