- This artist is called the Alfajarin Master because his most significant work was the older panels of a retable in the parish church in Alfajarin, just east of Saragossa, Spain.
- Bartolome Bermejo's figures seem to have been the inspiration for the Alfajarin Master's physical types.
He, even more than Bermejo, emphasizes the sad expressions of the people who inhabit his works.
They are generally slender with noticeably small chins.
The Alfajarin Master was adept at painting landscape and fine detail.
His linear style reinforces the agony of the scene and he depicts, in true Spanish fashion, the blood being shed by Jesus.
