Virgin kneeling at prayer in her bedchamber crosses her arms over her breast as the angel Gabriel hovers above and to the right. The spirit of God in the form of a dove descends on golden rays through a circular window on the back wall. The miniature is accompanied by a full scatter border including flowers, a strawberry and a moth. Some of the flowers grow out of a vase bearing a fictive kufic inscription. At the centre of the lower border is a peacock with open wings.
