His works show similarities to the style of other artists from Ferrara, like Cosme Tura, Francesco del Cossa and Ercole de' Roberti, as well as showing the influence of the Venetians Giovanni Bellini and Giorgione.
His most famous works are the "Crib" at Ferrara Pinacoteca, the "Virgin and Child" at the Capitoline Gallery in Rome, the "Pagan Sacrifice", the "Virgin and Child enthroned with saints" at London's NGA, and the "Virgin enthroned with saints" at the Estense Gallery in Modena.
