This painter from Brescia was considered one of the most representative artists of 15th century Lombardy.
His characters, set in perfect perspective in environments enriched with homely detail, appear realistic in their expressions.
As well as the "Virgin and Child with angel" {2599}, in which the divine messenger is partially covered by a red curtain, there are two other "Virgin and Child" paintings, one at the Poldi-Pezzoli Museum, and the other in the Castello Sforzesco in Milan.
Also noteworthy are the "Fornari altarpiece" and the "Rovere Polyptych" respectively at the Pinacoteca and the church of Santa Maria di Castello in Savona.
