история:
Федерико Бароччи (1535 - 1612)
Federico Barocci (Federico Fiori) was after the great Raphael, from whose work he often took his inspiration, Urbino's main Mannerist artist.
His works show the influence of the Emilian, Correggio, and the Venetian, Giorgione especially in the use of colour. Worth a mention among his great many works are the "Descent from the Cross" {4745}, the "Rest on the flight to Egypt" in the Vatican gallery, Rome, the "Night-time crib" at the Ambrosiana gallery in Milan, and the soft and delicate "Nativity" at the Prado in Madrid, reminiscent of Correggio's "Virgin's adoration of the Child" {2874}.
At the Uffizi is the "Virgin of the people", packed with majestic figures painted using pastel colours, to give an amazing tonal uniformity. Also here is "Holy Family with SS Jerome, Anne and Giovacchino" (popolo.jpg).
